Daily Stank Image Bank: "Blood on The Max"

C-Block sent this iPhone picture over to me. Perhaps it was “Some Guy” upset about the Fairless Square “fare increase disguised as a solution”. Come on “Some Guy”, our fair transportation system threatened by blood….“Like THAT's going to happen!”

tri-met, portland oregon max,

"I snapped this photo this morning. It looked like freshly-caked blood. This wasn't ketchup nor was it salsa — this was the B-to-the-L-to-the-double-O-D.

How do I know this? ‘Cos C-Block knows all."

Yes, the C-block has a way with words…

Grate
This piece of sheet metal has so much character, with its layers of rust and years of water erosion.

From Kristin Wall:

There's a handful of places in Portland that visually recharge my batteries and serve as inspiration for my photography. Two of my favorites are alongside the train tracks on Highway 30 in North Portland and the hub of the North East. Both are true representations of what is means to live in Portland.

The varying degrees of rust juxtaposed with the symmetry of the wheel give it depth and dimension.

Now that the holiday season is on, we are introducing some new 2008 calenders and other products featuring local Portland artists.

A Wings
Kick ass logo that's so raw and urban. I almost want to tear it off and wear it as a badge on my arm.

Daily Stank Image Bank: "Circus Me Around" by Performance Works NorthWest

Well, I can't tell you that I am able to fully describe this performance. One quote (very positive) was “a flock of birds with OCD“. All I know is that I am not necessarily Mr. Modern Dance and I had a great time. These pics are not the best–I am no pro photographer–but there are about 75 of them and a you can get a decent thought about what to expect.

It also gives a good idea of what it is like to watch “a flock of birds with OCD”. I definitely reccomend seeing this show before it ends this weekend.

We Portlanders really do live in Eden :)

Picture and following description from Wikipedia:

The Spalding Building, formerly the Oregon Bank Building is a historic office building in downtownPortland, Oregon. Since 1982, it has been on the National Register of Historic Places.[2]

Architect Cass Gilbert worked on the American Renaissance-style Spalding building while also working on the Woolworth Building in New York City. Completed in 1911, it was considered a skyscraper.[3]

The building contains 12 above-ground floors, and its construction mimics a classical column: A base, a shaft, and a capital.[4]

Google Street View has come to PDX

From Enigma over at NetNinja

It would appear that Google's Street View has finally come to Portland. They must have come by on a weekend or really early in the morning, as my car is in the driveway.

Street-View Google Pine St Portland Oregon 97214

I am big fan of google, and they just made my own StreetsPDX more interesting as I can now add more info and not take 200,00 shots….and the iGoogle plus Firefox add-on–yeah, that's good stuff

Update: I see that in addition to the email he sent me, he also posted up more info at Livejournal:

Daily Stank Image Bank: Seattle Seahawks Win!

Seattle Seahwaks Backpack

*Stumptown Coffee from Floyd's on SE Belmont*

Perhaps, you've seen me playing the part of the Portland Tourist lately. I've been asking directions, staying down at Marriott Waterfront, and just trying to figure out how not have the same formulaic Portland Tourist article–and help these tourists out besides rain, hipsters, and go to Voodoo, the Doug Fir, etc.

Besides, my moms and g-moms are on there way here Wednesday, so I need to know what it is like to be a tourists and how we treat them.

OK, part of it was wearing this fantastic Seattle Seahawks (Walgreens 39th/Belmont–oh I gots the trappa-keeppa too!) backpack. I also hope that by wearing it, perhaps we might actually use our freaking timeouts this week and win (Yo, Walrus, use those timeouts!)

Seattle Seahwaks Backpack

It was close…way too close considering we were playing the Bengals(Bengals' defensive collapse might be the worst yet under Lewis).

But, we/they won…and now we/they have a winning record and I think we can get to the play-offs. Do you?
