The board of Gorge Artists is pleased to announce dates for the 2016 Open Studios Tour: April 22, 23, 24, 2016, from 10am to 6pm. The upcoming tour marks the tenth anniversary of the event, which was established to build community, promote the arts, and provide opportunities for the public to experience and enjoy art in The Columbia River Gorge.

With forty-four artists participating in 2016:“it’s going to be a banner year,” said Charlene Fort, glass artist and member since the tour’s inception.

“The tenth anniversary reflects positive growth and inspiration, and the reality that art really does matter. I think of the collective spirit at our meetings and how we all work toward the same goal of community and connection,” said pastel painter Karen Watson, who will open her studio again this spring, rounding out her decade of participation.

The artist roster for 2016 features a variety of work including painting, drawing, jewelry, glass, sculpture, photography, textiles, fiber, and more. Artists’ studios are located throughout the Mid- Columbia from Cascade Locks to The Dalles and from Parkdale, Oregon to Trout Lake, Washington.

Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour is a juried event, with artists representing the highest quality work available from the region. It is timed with Blossom Festival to welcome many out-of-town visitors seeking a taste of spring and inspiration.

The tour is free and self-guided. Detailed maps are available at gorgeartists.org and at area Chambers of Commerce, Art on Oak in Hood River, and The Dalles Art Center.
