Trixy and the Nasties is a funky Motown infusion of some of Portland’s best musicians. We’ve got plenty of class, brass, and just enough sass to make being nasty a good thing. With classic Soul favorites from Etta James to the hippest B-side cuts of Betty Harris, it’s all about playing the songs that make you groove, take you back, or turn you on to some sweet tracks pulled straight from the vault. Our style is fun, danceable, and administers a dose of the ‘good feels’ at all times. Members have played in bands such as Crazy 8’s, Patrick Lamb, Philly’s Phunkestra, The Yachtsmen, The Paul Creighton Project, Joey Porter Funk Tributes, Supraphonics, STS9, Cooper and the Jam, and Trio Subtonic.
Louis Pain dubbed “Portland’s boss of the B-3 by the Oregonian, is a musician’s musician. When called upon, Louis is a dynamic soloist, but he specializes in the subtle art of making the musicians and vocalist sound their best. Louis is from the bay area has worked with funk guitarist Bruce Conte (Tower of Power), jazz saxophonist Jules Broussard (Ray Charles, Santana.) He also worked with the top Portland talent that includes Paul DeLay, Linda Hornbuckle, Curtis Salgado, Lloyd Jones, Mel Brown, Thara Memory, Dan Faehnle, and Dan Balmer. He has backed up as a sideman Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, Phil Upchurch, Martha Reeves, The Shirelles, and the now-departed musical giants Solomon Burke, Howard Tate, and Bo Diddley.
