What do Oregon’s top chefs, best wineries, craft breweries and finest cuisine have in common? They will take over Portland’s Waterfront Park to support Special Olympics Oregon during the 31st annual Bite Of Oregon, August 8, 9, and 10.

The farm to fork movement is a way of life for Oregon chefs, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be for you as well (at least for a weekend). Back by popular demand, the Oregon Bounty Chef’s Table will be bigger and tastier than its inaugural year in 2013. The Chef’s Table offers Bite visitors smaller gourmet plates prepared by chefs who partner with various Oregon Agriculture Commissions.

This year it will expand in size and feature Commissions including blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, potatoes, Seafood Oregon, Oregon Beef Council and this year’s newest addition: Oregon Dairy Products. Different entrée and dessert bites will be served each day. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the rancher, farmer, or fisherman who grew, raised or caught the item they are enjoying in a true farm-to-festival spirit.

The Bite of Oregon wouldn’t be the same without a little appetizing competition for Iron Chef and Iron Mixologist. Keeping the tradition alive, chefs and mixologists from around the state will compete for the fiercely coveted titles. Some of this year’s participants will include Chef Jeff Strom of Koho Bistro and Mixologist Beckaly Franks of Clyde Common. Let the battles begin!

Home of the James Beard Foundation, Oregon has become a top-notch culinary destination. To highlight this, The Bite is excited to welcome 10 Oregon restaurants, some of our favorite food carts, and a variety of delectable desserts to taste.

Whether your drink of choice is an ice-cold craft beer, a glass of world-class Pinot, a crisp hard cider or distilled spirits, the Bite offers ample liquid assets to sip. We’re excited to welcome some of the state’s best craft breweries, wineries, cideries, and distilleries to help quench your thirsts and tantalize your palates. A major addition to this year’s event is the highly regarded SE Wine Collective who will host a tasting bar pouring sample sips and glasses from locally produced wines including a collective blend made exclusively for The Bite.

And be merry (while supporting a great cause).
The Bite is fun for everyone. Families, friends, couples, colleagues, and even blind dates. Two music stages located on opposite ends of the festival will host more than 30 of the state’s best live bands ensuring a rocking good time no matter where you find yourself at the festival. For families, the Bite offers a variety of fun activities including puppeteers, art projects, face painting, and lots of interactive performance acts.

This year The Bite will enhance your experience with “The Bonus Bite,” which is where attendees can opt-in to receive texts during the festival and win prizes. Stay tuned for more information on special packages, early bird deals and how The Bite plans to engage and get social with you while you’re eating, drinking and being merry at this year’s Bite of Oregon.

Why I would like to win free passes : well, I might as well be honest here, folks. I’m a cheapskate. Festivals and such REALLY intrigue me until I think about the cover charge, the logistics and all the money I’ll spend enjoying it. So rather than go, I always find a reason to talk myself out of them. FREE TICKETS, however, are impossible to deny and are the catalyst for my social life and the gateway to having a great time. Don’t get me wrong, I *might* go anyway… But let’s face it, it’d be waaaaaaaaay cooler if I won tickets. And then I could promote the ship out of PDX Pipeline to all my friends and tell everyone I know how cool PDX pipeline is. :-)

I’d love to attend Bite to get a taste for all of Portland’s great food, but also so I can register voters and educate people about important local politics. The Bus is a nonprofit without a lot of money, so having a free ticket to the event would make it possible for me to attend!

Visiting here in Portland for the 3rd time, and have never been to the “Bite of Oregon”. Would love to taste the best of craft beers & food, and hear the music here in Oregon. Would love to be a part of Oregon’s best events in August 2014. The Weather could not be more perfect……………… Give me the chance of a lifetime ! Pick me ! Thanks !

  155. Meg August 7, 2014 at 5:49 am #

My best friend is visiting from Baltimore and has never been west of Texas. This kind of event would be her ideal day and I’d love to treat her!

  156. Megan August 7, 2014 at 2:39 pm #

This would be awesome. My birthday lands on Labor Day which is a curse in disguise and my fiance and I usually end up spending the day hiding from all the vacationers and Labor Day loungers. We have been trying to think of something fun we can do before or after my actual birthday and this sounds perfect.

Come on, hook a girl up for her birthday :P

  157. Alysa August 7, 2014 at 3:17 pm #

I love food and Oregon wine! But hey-who doesn’t? I haven’t been able to attend in a few years. I would love to go now that I have a greater appreciation and knowledge of our regional wines. There are some wines that I love now that I wouldn’t even attempt when i was still in my twenties. Please please please pick meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    OK? ok. Thanks! :)

  161. Ashley August 9, 2014 at 9:39 am #

I have not been to the Bite in years. I moved away, out of state for several years, and now I am back. Yet i always seem to miss the Bite the last 2 years. My man is here visiting. Trying to help convince him to move here –to the beautiful Pacific NW, Portland. He/we love food. Regardless, tomorrow will be a great day!
