A People’s History of Oregon” is a new series of work that represents Chris Haberman’s experience, research, oral history and tall tales about Oregon. Haberman attempts to bridge the gap between the facts and fables of Oregon’s rich historical and cultural heritage by examining the authority of history with local folklore.
This exhibition portrays Haberman’s perception of Oregon’s cultural landscape from Paleolithic times and Native American heritage to pioneer development and modern Oregon. Reality and myth bleed into each other the same way the coast gives way to forest, then to city and desert. Read the rest of this entry »
