50+ Portland First Thursday Art Openings & Events: Pearl, Old Town, China Town, NW, SW

First Thursday @ Everett Station Lofts, Portland, OregonPortland’s monthly First Thursday event is tonight!  The weather should be perfect and thousands of people will be out and enjoying the art and events. There are over 50 (probably 100) galleries having openings this month, with most openings taking place in the Pearl district and Old Town/China Town.

We have a very large list below thanks to Sequential Art Gallery (328 NW Broadway). They compile an email called the “[h]IT LIST” of events every month. You can join it by emailing them @ sequentialart @ gmail dot com. We have reproduced much of it below with permission.

Portland Japanese Buddhist Festival This Weekend: Music, Food, Dance, Beer Garden, & More

The annual Obonfest, a Japanese Buddhist Festival, takes place this weekend in SE Portland. You know you live in one of the best places in America when even the Buddhist festival has a beer garden! Plus, the much-loved Portland Taiko will be performing. If you haven’t seen or heard of Portland Taiko, check out this video below. You can also get a free Obon dance lesson tonight (details below)!
