Tuesday: Portland National Night Out | FREE, 150+ Parties, BBQ, Music

The 28th Annual National Night Out features over 150 neighborhood block parties to raise awareness about crime prevention. The South Park Blocks has a free party starting at 6 p.m. with burgers (served up by firefighters), ice cream and live music.

National Night Out is a unique community event, celebrated across the United States and Canada that happens the first Tuesday in August every year. On this day, parties, gatherings, and get togethers happen throughout Portland. The focus of these parties is on preventing crime and drug activity by getting to know the people on your block and in your neighborhood.

NNO has been celebrated in Portland since the ‘80s. Every year, approximately 20,000 people attend neighborhood parties. There are between 120 and 160 parties held each year.
