Friday: Portland Chef Competition @ 2011 Oregon Berry Festival

The 2011 Oregon Berry Festival starts tomorrow and the first night closes out with a berry-cook-off featuring six top Portland Chefs. Admission to the festival is free and one can or package of food for the cook-off. This is a benefit for the Oregon Food Bank.

“Eat Your Berries!” – The Oregon Berry Festival presents the very first Berry Chef Cook Off, Friday evening July 22nd from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, at the Ecotrust Building.

The Berry Chef Cook off will close out the very first day of the Oregon Berry Festival, held July 22-23, 2011 at the Ecotrust Building in Portland’s Pearl District.  The Berry Cook Off will showcase six of Portland’s premier chefs competing to prepare berry themed morsels for a panel of judges for the grand prize and the vote of attendees for a people’s choice award.

On this downtown waterfront walk, we tour the largest mechanical structures in Oregon. We will begin our walk at the corner of NW 2nd & Everett, on the covered steps of the NW Natural Building.

From there, we’ll visit bridge museum, meet a bridge operator, and test for synchronous vertical excitation. We’ll end our walk with a no-host family-style lunch in Chinatown (extra $). We’ll do about a mile of walking, crossing at least three bridges, and seeing about ten in all. Walks are ADA accessible.
