Ecotrust 2011 Free Portland Sundown Concert Series | Y La Bamba, Typhoon, Vagabond Opera, & More

YES! There is another free outdoor series in Portland this summer other than Noon Tunes, Concerts in the Parks, & Movies in the Parks. It’s the Ecotrust Sundown Concert series and it was a big hit last year. We missed one of these because there are so many great free Portland events going on right now. However, there are still three to go including Typhoon and Wild Ones tonight!

Join us at the Natural Capital Center (Ecotrust), a hub for ideas and urban community, for a unique series of free outdoor concerts that tell a story about how to live deliberately in our bioregion. Learn about Ecotrust Programs and partner organizations to the tune of a homegrown music lineup, plucked from Portland’s varied and abundant music scene.

The Innovation Showcase will offer the chance to learn about local initiatives and connect with sponsors and organizations whose work corresponds with each evening’s theme. Topics include: water, food, energy, green building + forestry, and reliable prosperity.

2011 Portland Bastille Festival in the Pearl | 8,000 Visitors | Jamison Park

The Portland Bastille Day Committee will present the 9th Annual Bastille Day Festival at Jamison Square Park on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. The event is free, open to the public and for people of all ages. Bastille Day festivals – held in cities all around the world – celebrate the storming of the Bastille Prison on July 14, 1789, an event which is recognized as the start of the French Revolution.

The 2010 event in Portland was among the largest such festivals on the West Coast, with thousands of visitors (click here to view pictures), and was filmed in 2008 by PBS for a documentary that was shown nationally on TV. This year’s festival will feature a variety of vendors and organizations offering French wine, cuisine, music, art and sport.
