The hard-driving stringband juggernaut from Minnesota’s great north woods is set to take Portland by storm on Saturday, April 9th at The Goodfoot Lounge.

Pert Near Sandstone recently received critical acclaim for their fresh take on the Beatles’ classic “I Am The Walrus” that appeared on the widely celebrated Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 2. The album, which was co-produced by 89.3 The Current & Vega Productions, features 16 originally arranged Beatles covers that were recorded exclusively for the project with proceeds benefiting music and art programs in Minnesota public schools.

Through out the month of April, the East Burn will hold a Buck Hunter Tournament. Full Sail will sponsor the event, providing amazing prizes for the top contender. There will also be $ 10 buckets of 5 session during the tournament. The event starts this Wednesday the 6th at 9 pm. Sign up in the days before or come before 9 to get on the list.

The tournament will be played in a bracket. Participants will be paired with another player. A Safari trek will be played and the winner will advance to the next round. All winners will come back the following week to play another round.

Each round of the Bracket will be held on a Wednesday at 9 pm. If you are interested in participating make sure you sign up before 9 pm this Wednesday the 6th.

Bicycles are taking over the Oregon Convention Center April 9-10 for the PDX Bicycle Show presented by Drive Less/Save More. There will be plenty of fun activities for everyone and Portland’s largest display of bicycles, gear and apparel at this annual expo.

Highlights include great deals on gear, apparel, accessories and equipment; the Hopworks Bike Bar serving beer all day long, a huge Oregon handmade bicycle show, the Pimp’d Bike showcase and seminars and workshops by local experts. Kids can test ride bikes and practice their beginner skills in the Little Nutty Kids Zone by Nutcase Helmets. There is also a test ride demo area for adults.

Portland’s official Arbor Week Celebration, today through April 9, is filled with free activities that will help build an understanding and appreciation for the trees in Portland’s parks, natural area, streets, and private yards. Kids and adults both can learn about the variety, the history, and the future of trees, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Portland’s Arbor Week 2011 will kick off from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 4, with the City of Portland’s official Arbor Day Celebration, this year in the South Park Blocks near Portland State University.
