DJ Goldfingers: JayGoldy has blessed the turntables at venues from LA to NYC, Tel Aviv to Montreal and probably in a city near you. It’s been a long road for DJ Goldfingers, who began his dj career in 1995 in his friend’s basement just outside of Detroit, MI. With his relentless work effort and natural nack for dj’ing, he quickly became a prominent dj in the Michigan hip hop scene. Goldy worked around the clock, promoting shows, organizing a weekly open mic night, djing clubs, and opening for world renowned acts such as Z-Trip, Q-bert, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Keith, Prince Paul, 2 Live Crew, and Dj Krush. 2012 Update: New Portland Farmers Winter Market: Vendors, Farms, Prizes, Tents

While you are looking for Portland events this weekend, the best might be the return of the Portland Farmers Market to the Park Blocks. Now in its 20th year, Portland Farmers Market shoppers can expect a crop of new vendors in 2011. Located between SW Hall and Montgomery Streets near Portland State University, the market is open every Saturday March 19 through December 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Here are a few of the farmers, food producers and prepared food vendors new to the Portland Farmers Market at PSU this year:

Cascadia Chestnuts - A certified organic orchard in NW Portland growing select French and Italian “marrone type” chestnut cultivars. This vendor will join the market in October when the first crops of chestnuts are harvested.

La Terra Vita - An integrated, biodiverse, local family farm in Scio, Oregon, using organic and biodynamic methods to produce heirloom vegetables of exceptional flavor and beauty, as well as eggs, meat and dairy products. Farm management includes woodland and wetland restoration, pasture and hay making. laterravita.com

Bingo Sandwiches – A collaboration between Picklopolis’ David Barber in Portland and Wag Egg’s Wes Coulter in Champoeg. Seasonal sandwiches, sides and Picklopolis pickles. All sammies can have a Wag egg on top!

Choi’s Kimchi – A producer in Gresham making fresh and flavorful kimchi using locally grown ingredients from environmentally responsible farmers.
