The good folks from the Annual Proper Festival have a free Portland Thanksgiving community dinner event including music and storytelling. And if you don;t want any bird, there are vegetarian and vegan options. They are also looking for volunteers (info below).

Macy’s is proud to usher in the 2010 holiday season on Friday, Nov 26 with the annual Macy’s Holiday Parade and the opening of Santaland in Downtown Portland. Straight from the North Pole, Santa Claus will be spreading joy and good cheer as he winds his way through the streets of Downtown Portland on his brand new sleigh. The Portland holiday shopping season kicked off a couple weeks back in Portland with the Crafty Wonderland pop-ups. It increases dramatically this weekend and throughout December. If you still have Thanksgiving shopping to do, the Buckman Farmers Market will be re-open tomorrow for it's Reunion Thanksgiving Market. The market has been closed since September and won't be open again until May, so final chance to see it for quite a while.

Annual Holiday Ale Festival exalts the craft beers of the winter season

Despite being held outdoors during one of the coldest months of the year, more than 18,000 festival attendees stay warm and dry under clear-topped tents that cover the venue. Gas heaters create a cozy ambiance beneath the boughs of the region’s largest decorated Christmas tree. In addition to beer tasting, the festival also features on-site food, event merchandise, a coat check for charity, and seasonal background music.

Hours for the event are 2 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event is for ages 21 and over.

Holidays Kickoff in Vancouver on Thanksgiving Weekend

A High Flying Holiday!" is the theme of the 15th Annual Vancouver Rotary Foundation's Festival of Trees. This fits in with the new location of the decorated trees, which will be at Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth Street, Vancouver. A new Hot Buttered Run and Kids Kandy Kane Race have been added to the three-day festival.

This year's event will be held Thanksgiving Weekend, November 26-28. Events and dates will be:

Community Tree Lighting – Friday, November 26, 5:30 p.m., Esther Short Park
Thousands of residents, young and not so young, start their holidays at the Community Tree Lighting, which includes entertainment, refreshments, elves and Santa, who arrives by “train.”

The Blazers got a much needed win Thursday night on TNT after the Greg Oden debacle round 3. Two wins in a row. I can't be certain, but I believe that qualifies as a winning streak. Tonight the Blazers will battle another tough division rival, the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz come into Portland after losing to the San Antonio Spurs last night at home and will be playing their second game in as many days tonight.
