Portland Trail Blazers coverage by Andy Popp

GAME 3: Blazers @ NY Knicks

The Blazers roll into New York with a 2 game winning streak. Well rested and (hopefully) adjusted to the time zone shift, the Blazers get the Knicks the day after a rough 101-105 loss to Boston. The Knicks are currently 1-1 on the season and tonight is not only the home opener, but the debut of Amar'e Stoudamire. This is the first time in a while the Knick faithful have had something the cheer about. Combine that with Halloween drinking/parties and you can expect the Madison Square Garden to be raucous.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, they only have 4 NBA players: Amar'e Stoudamire, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton and Danilo Gallinari. The rest of the Knick roster is irrelevant.

STRATEGY
Look for the Blazers to put this one away early with team play and solid execution. No turnovers. An early lead takes the the crowd out of the game.

Vinyl Killers 8 opens on October 28th in Portland, Oregon at The Goodfoot. The Goodfoot is located at 2845 SE Stark St. and is open daily from 4 PM to 2:30 AM. The show will be up until Nov 30th.

There will also be vinyl only selections from dj's monkeytek, ryan organ and samizdat during the opening

The often imitated, never duplicated, OG vinyl art show, Vinyl Killers returns this October for another round of rescuing long forgotten records from the world's landfills. This year there have been at least 6 other vinyl shows in North America alone and interest in the artform is at an all time high. After seven annual shows and several touring exhibits Vinyl Killers remains committed to staying open call, independent, D-I-Y, and free of corporate sponsorship.

Since it's inception in 2003 Vinyl Killers has showcased well over 1000 records painted by artists from around the world. A quick glance at the VK website shows both the genres global influence and the absolutely amazing things that are being done with paint and old records. Media recognition for this innovative show includes The Art Of Rebellion 2 and Stencil Nation, and features in numerous international street art magazines and blogs. In 2005 Klutch, the founder and curator of VK, had the room that he decorated with painted records for San Francisco's Hotel Des Arts featured in Time magazine. Read the rest of this entry »

Portland Trail Blazers coverage by Andy Popp

Fresh off a 106 – 92 win over the Phoenix Suns, the Blazers make the 2 hour flight down to California to battle Los Angeles' second act, the Clippers. This is a bit of a trap game for Portland. Not only are they playing the second of a back-to-back, last year's number one pick, Blake Griffin, is making his NBA debut. The Clipper fans should be out in full force tonight.

The Clippers starting 5 is formidable this season: Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Ryan Gomes and Blake Griffin. Their problem is that once you get past the starting 5, their bench is full of scrubs: Rasul Butler, Randy Foye, Jarron Collins, DeAndre Jordan. Not much to worry about there.

STRATEGY
Griffin can't shoot freethrows to save his life. If he goes off tonight look for the Blazers to use their depth to send him to the line.
