Immigrants for Greece began arriving to the Northwest in the late 1800s to work in fishing, lumber, railroad and other jobs. Settling in Portland they established their church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in southeast Portland. Moving to a new and larger church on 32nd and NE Glisan in 1952, the mortgage had to be paid off. The ladies decided to help by holding a bazaar with their handwork, food, pastries, music and dances from their homeland. This was the beginning of what is no known as the Annual Greek Festival which is one of the largest of its kind.

Return of Molly Cliff at Mt. Tabor During the heydey of Northwest rock Molly Cliff was a promising group of disenchanted youth headlining shows supported by Everclear and the Dandy Warhols, and the song “Meon” was in regular radio rotation nationally. Their sound was marked by the interplay of the Kevin Colgan's melodic guitar, Ryan Schmidt's (Supernaut) backing guitar and Bob Patrick's vocal harmonies. On the brink of success and a major record deal, the band sadly called it quits.

Now 17 years since their last performance, Portland will get to experience the triumphant return of Molly Cliff! The band has put aside all differences and reunited. Be there as Molly Cliff takes the stage for the first time in nearly two decades Read the rest of this entry »
