Saturday: 3rd Annual Portland Zombie Prom @ Bossanova Ballroom

Posted by Kimberly Gehl

Portland Zombie PromFrom the Press Release:

“It was with such a longstanding love and appreciation for zombies that inspired Heather Erickson, in November of 2007, upon a unique idea; a special event that would honor zombies and zombie fans alike. A night where Portlanders could gather, adorned in the finest attire, and dance the night away with friends (and fiends), and perhaps even feast on a brain or two!

Portland Zombie Prom features all of the regular trappings of any other prom.  There is music, dancing, formal attire, refreshments, prom photos, and even the crowning of a Prom King and Queen.  But the music is loud and raucous, the formal attire bloodstained and torn, and the refreshments usually alcoholic in nature.  In other words; it's a prom fit for the unliving!”

This Year's Line-Up
This year's Master of Ceremonies will be Uncle Eerie, host of “Uncle Eerie's Shiver Show”, a new locally-produced horror show premiering this weekend.

Deadly musical entertainment will be provided by Nekronotz and Barnyard Ballers, as well as DJ Apocalypse, DJ Skittish, and DJ Non. Be sure to keep your ears tuned into the music; last year was full of wit with covers of “zombie favorites”, such as Read the rest of this entry »

This Weekend: Portland's Huge American Apparel Rummage Sale

We rarely post about a clothing sale here on Pipeline, but over 7,000 confirmed guests on the Facebook event means this should be quite a large event as well. Plus, they replenish the clothing so you don't have camp out at 5AM to fight your way through hordes at 10AM. Plus, it is free entry.

Sibling Rivalry 2010: The Domination Continues  #6 Ranked Portland Set to Ambush #7 Seattle In "Sisterly Smackdown"

On Saturday, May 15th Portland's Rose City Rollers'  (RCR) all-star team, The Wheels of Justice, renews its rivalry with Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Western Region foe Rat City Rollergirls at the Portland Expo  Center.

As pioneers of modern Women's Roller Derby, off the track these teams share a  bound of sisterhood. On the track, with both teams ranked in the top ten internationally, it's going to be sibling rivalry taken to a new level.

Each of the last two years Rose City has gotten the better of Rat, and lead by the  returning jammer foursome of Rhea DeRange, Cadillac, Scratcher in the Eye, and Blood  Clottia, Rose City is looking to make it a threepeat. Starting Tonight: "Hot Gun" (Top Gun Musical) @ Dantes + Win Tickets

Top Gun The Musical (aka “Hot Gun”) begins tonight at Dantes. Jedediah "Diamond" Aaker sent us this press release a couple weeks back and yeah…it's going to be talked about for sure. We are giving out a couple pair of tickets to Hot Gun to our Facebook group (giveaway on Thursday/Friday).

Reminder: We give out free tickets to our Portland Facebook Group including to many of the top music and art venues in Portland. Join it if you like free stuff.

From Press Release
Hot Gun / Top Gun The Musical in PortlandGrab your wingman by the stinger, or lose him forever — Hot Gun the musical is locked and ready to load! The best of the best are in the cockpit once again, and they're poised to take your breath away. Are you ready to bring back that loving feeling? Do you feel the need for speed?

The creators of last fall's critically acclaimed "cock opera," Chariots of Rubber, WonderDiamond Productions, present Hot Gun — a rock 'n' roll re-imagining of the iconic blockbuster, Top Gun. Hot Gun will be performed live on stage at Dante's, each Wednesday for a 200-seat, eight-week run, beginning May 12, during Portland's Fleet Week.

Hot Gun reunites the talented team of director Jeffrey Wonderful (Chariots of Rubber, Rose City Rollers, Portland Organic Wrestling), and producer/rockstar Jedediah "Diamond" Aaker (Diamond Tuck, Lucky Thirteens, BarFly). While remaining remarkably faithful to the original screenplay's dialogue and plot line, the new live musical production bears the hallmarks of this dynamic duo's playful tweaking.

The overheated sexual dynamics of the 80s classic are turned up even higher — the pilots' locker room has become a sauna, our hero's rival and love interest flip genders, and the the top-selling soundtrack soars off the charts, with live renditions so testosterone-charged and full-frontal, they instantly Read the rest of this entry »
