Description: Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in Washington State. The eruption on May 18, 1980, killed dozens of people and changed the landscape with its 24-megaton blast. And here it is, after its eruption almost 30 years ago. This is one of the many views you can get from up on Oregon Health & Science University campus on Marquam Hill. This is another view panning my camera to the left zoomed in. Presented in full HDR!

Video: Portland Japanese Garden On Travel Channel

Portland Japanese Garden
August 19, 2009

Description: It's said that the heart of a Japanese garden is harmony with Nature… Hosted by The Travel Channel, this relaxing walk through the Portland Japanese Garden with Head Gardener Michael Kondo covers five distinct garden styles. With bubbling streams, waterfalls, koi fish, raked sands, moss beds, and flowers in bloom–glimpse inside “a beautiful manicured garden in the heart of the metropolis.” Produced by Black Diamond Television, UK.

Unfortunately, the rain is back this week. Yet, temperatures are still 60+ and the blooming plants make it a great time to check out the Japanese Garden(s). If you haven't been, this video will likely inspire you to go. Even if you have been a few times, you might not have seen the head gardener, Michael Kondo, and know fully about the five sections of the layout. So check this video out and have a visit during those “sunbreaks”.
