Interview With Portland SEO Todd Mintz & Searchfest 2010 Discount

Portland's Searchfest takes place next week @ the Governor Hotel. It is the ultimate conference in Portland for the search engine marketing & internet strategy. PDX Pipeline readers can save $30 on their SearchFest ticket with the coupon code BRD-SEMPDXSF1020.

I sent Portland SEO expert & SEMPDX board Member Todd Mintz some questions about the conference and his responses are below:

PDXP: Why should people attend SearchFest?
Julian, I think most people who read PDX Pipeline are interested and involved in social media in one form or another.  We're dedicating a whole track of our agenda to social media where we've invited top experts to speak on relevant topics like Twitter, Facebook & Social Media strategy.  Social media isn't just for fun…it's a business that if done properly can be lucrative for all involved.

If you're interested in Search Engine Optimization or Paid Search, we have full agenda tracks for those topics too.

PDXP: How big of a role does social media play in search/internet marketing now?
Huge.  Massive.  Ginormous.
The rise of social media meant that people / businesses could disseminate their message to the masses without needing a top search engine ranking.  However, social media and search marketing frequently work together to help a business achieve their aims.  Our SearchFest session on social media tactics will delve more deeply into that.

PDXP: How has Searchfest evolved since the beginning?
This is our 4th SearchFest Conference and we started doing these because Read the rest of this entry »

Portland Saturday Market Kickoff Weekend | New Site, Over 350 Vendors

You know spring is really close when the Saturday Market kicks off (as well as cherry blossoms). Well, that happens this weekend and they are going to have a party. Also, I didn't know this until now, but if you make a $25 purchase, you receive a free TriMet ticket or a two hour parking validation at any Smart Park garage. Not bad…and of course, don't forget about the good food…mmmmmm

From Press Release:
Join PORTLAND SATURDAY MARKET for the kickoff weekend of the 37th season, March 6th & 7th. The tradition continues with a new look for the Market, under an 8,000-square-foot open-sided pavilion, a cantilevered deck over-looking the river and a circular plaza containing the Legacy Fountain in a beautiful park setting along the waterfront.

The two-day celebration on March 6th & 7th will include:

* 5 Daily give-a-ways of $25.00 gift cards and one grand prize gift basket, which includes four tickets to Portland's Lan Su Chinese Garden at NW 3rd & Everett, a $100.00 gift card, and other fine crafted goodies from the Market!

* The Market's Main Stage will be serving up traditional Irish music all weekend long with the likes of The Fenbi International Superstars (http://www.myspace.com/fenbi)

* The Kid's Corner, featuring Janet Julian teaching children and their families how to create musical instruments out of recycled materials to use during the 2 PM Kid's Parade through the Market both Saturday and Sunday.

* The Market's international Food Court featuring original recipes of local favorites like Jalisco's chicken quesadillas, Taste of Poland's homemade pierogi or Chowder Heads; juicy fish-and-chips basket.

Tonight: Galerie Salome First Opening In Everett Station Lofts

Posted by Sasha Burchuck

Galerie Salome opens this Thursday!

Aaron Montaigne (Dangerous Boys Club, former Crash Worship) and Laura Kinsinger (designer and indie fashion muse). Maybe you've seen them dressed in fine ensemble, driving around Portland in their black Spitfire convertible with their one-eyed black pug, "Valentino." There is something wonderfully exotic about the two of them which they have translated in to the jewel-toned and chandeliered space that they are about to present to Portland.

Salome's doors will open on 28 portraits by Jaret Ferratusco (author of Please Don't Leave Me and founder of Patient, Folded Hands Press) who will be reading from his most recent novella I Grew Up In Amaltherey Hill.

Ferratusco will be followed by a performance by K Records artist Joey Casio. Reading at 9:00, musical performance 9:30.
