Events For Hanukkah in Portland | December 11-18

Friday is the first day of Hanukkah, and here are some ways to celebrate/take part in Portland:

On Friday, Lompoc Brewing releases Portland's first beer brewed for Hanukkah – “8 Malty Nights”, which they describe as “a rich, dark ale made with chocolate malts and flaked rye.” (more info)

On Saturday, Hilel, JSU & the Jewish Federation of Portland are hosting Matzo Ball at the Crown Room with Vursatyl of Lifesavas, Philly's Phunkestra Soul Orchestra & others. There is an open bar hour or so and you can RSVP Leigh Feldman for it at leighfeldman3@gmail.com. This is also a benefit for the Sunshine Pantry. $3 with a canned food donation. 9pm. 21+ (flyer & a little more info)

On Sunday, Leigh's weekend event list: Latke's and Laughs @ Tea Zone (potato pancakes and a screening of the Hebrew Hammer)

Lastly, the Menora will be up in Pioneer Square (pictured above from 2008) and will be lit from the 11th through the 18th. There is no information on when the lightings take place on the website, but they should be at sundown….which seems to be about 4:30PM (4:30!!!).

(Oh, and while this is not Hanukkah related (or Chanukah related), famous Portland Jewish artists Chris Haberman & John Graeter of Portland City Art, are having a huge Portland art show on Friday with 100 artists, over 2000 pieces & everything is  only $30 + Pipeline is a sponsor.)
