Brewcaster sent over this video of today's North Portland Anticon. It looks like a good time and if you missed this one, there is still the official Portland Santacon coming up on the 19th.

Holiday Ale Festival & Event Organizer Preston Weesner

Yesterday, the Holiday Ale Festival had a beer sampling for media people and somehow we got invited. It was Brewcaster's birthday, but not wanting to miss free beer, he brought his video equipment and made this short above. Preston Weesner, the event organizer is speaking he gave a lot of great info. I forgot most of it but I did write down a few things, so here they are:

  • Preston Weesner: “Sours are the new IPA”.
  • They are breaking the info on all the new beers/special beers on Facebook and twitter (@holidayale). These can run out as quickly as 20 minutes as they are specialty small batches.
  • There were only 12 beers the first year, but it has gotten so popular that there is now a waiting list for new breweries decided by a lottery.
  • Fred Eckhardt was there and if you were unaware, he is THE MAN.

Since Pipeline is an events site rather than a beer geek site, here is some info from those who know about these matters:
