Its been almost two years since the last time that I saw Tu Fawning perform, and I have to admit that the epPIcmemory is faint and faded, like a daguerreotype in a museum collection. But somehow remembering them in the silvery light of faded-photo nostalgia seems apropos of how they are: ethereal and impossible to pin down.

Each song has a life and instrumentation of it's own: Corrina Repp will go from playing the drums and singing to playing the guitar while Joe Haege is across the stage “playing the piano like his life depends on it,” as someone once said. What I do remember is that I was moved by their live show, as I am now, by their recordings: in every song there is the creation of another avant garde universe, something that is achieved through the synthesis of ad hoc orchestral arrangements, artistic sincerity, and high fidelity soundscaping.

Tu Fawning will perform live at The Woods with Loch Lommond on November 10 and at Holocene on November 11.
