Family-Friendly Day & Adult Night Portland Halloween Events @ Disjecta

This Halloween, Disjecta has a family-friend family event (daytime) and adults only event (nighttime). The day has Voodoo, Grilled Cheese Grill, novelty cars, crafts, and a Cake Walk. The night has great dance music and some dark and creepy atmosphere . Tough choice if you can attend only one.

From Disjecta:

Disjecta Halloween in PortlandHalloween is going North this year.

Two Events:
One in the the day for the family.
One in the night for the ass-shakin'.

From noon to four, Disjecta partners with Haunted Happening to bring you an Old Fashion Halloween Ho-Down to benefit Chief Joseph Elementary (All ages, $5 for adults and kids over 12).  Highlights include:

  • Old time carnival games
  • Raffle benefiting the R&R Camp for Girls and Friends of Lone Fir Cemetery
  • Halloween Craft Tables
  • Cake Walk sponsored by the Chief Joseph PTA raising funds for their fabulous Arts and Sciences After School Program!
  • Uncle Eerie's Shiver Show
  • Novelty cars on display from Driven Dead
  • Music by Podunk and Jim Strange with The Proud and The Damned
  • Food from Voodoo Donuts, Grilled Cheese Grill

Then from nine til the break of dawn, Disjecta hosts a dark night of dance and indulgence with some of the best acts Portland has to offer (21+, $10).

Inspired by horror film tropes such as voyeurism, irregular perspective and scale, classicism, grotesque silhouettes, and eerie forest shacks, Disjecta Halloween intends to make a creepy stalker out of every patron. Experience the evening from a variety of vantage points, all interlinked with each other to create an evening where you can be as much a performance as what's on stage. Watch and be watched.

The bands:

  • Copy
“Oh, if only you could win "Best New Band" twice… Yep,
first listens of Copy's upcoming release, Hair Guitar,
indeed confirm that Mobius Beard was hardly a fluke,
and Marius Libman's one hell of a producer.” – willamette
week
  • E*Rock
E*Rock is a multi-disciplinary artist and electronic
musician based in Portland who runs the record labels
Audio Dregs and Fryk Beat and produces animated
music videos with the Wyld File crew. His work is on the
cover of numerous CDs, LPs, DVDs, concert posters,
magazine covers and his videos and animation have
appeared on MTV2 and The Museum of Modern Art in
Paris.
  • Atole
Boomboxes aside, Atole continues to grow. In 2009
Atole was signed to Audio Dregs Records with a debut
LP coming late 2009. The band just completed a West
Coast tour with homies Starfucker! Coming soon: a Split
7″ with White Fang on their New label CHIPS! Sooner
however- two New EP's, a New T-Shirt, and a super
special secret sauce brewing in a basement
somewhere…
  • Guidance Counselor
“Ian Anderson likes to take his clothes off. Luckily, as one integral part of Portland's Guidance Counselor, the frontman has a reason to remove his shirt without looking like a total creep. The band's sound can slow-drip like fellow Pacific Northwesterners Sexton Blake and Starfucker, while live shows can run through the same hyper and spazzy veins as East Coasters Math The Band. Guidance Counselor knows the formula for a killer show is simple: drums + keyboards + almost-naked dudes = one killer party.” – a.v. club
  • DJ Automaton

Soon to be L.A. bound, DJ Automaton spins hot nights at
Holocene, Branx, and Rotture.
