Review: Content 2009 at the Ace Hotel

On Sunday evening, jaws dropped as attendees attempted to capture all that was happening on the second floor of the Ace Hotel in downtown Portland for Content 2009. 28 rooms were transformed into other worlds with added fashion flair by 38 independent clothing and accessory designers. No one expected to walk into a multiple-homicide murder scene (splattered blood and gag bags included,) or where a bathtub filled with goldfish accompanied one-of-a-kind locally designed dresses hung on the shower rod, or where a candle-lit room was taken over by a human-sized bird nest with a musical act performing at its core.

The premiere of Content 2009 was mysterious, enticing, stirred everyone's senses and captivated what Portland truly is: unique, artistic, organic, and hip. The event most certainly re-instated why this city is going to keep attracting young 20-somethings:  even if there are no jobs to go around, the young minds that put together this event? They are chalk-full of potential and will only get better with age as the public watches with anticipation.

Props to the How We Develop team, a collaborative company consisting of Ada Mayer, Gretchen Jones and Anna Korte for being the brainchild behind this event. We look forward to your future events.

My fave rooms included: hand-made jewelry by Stone & Honey, beautiful dresses by Claire La faye, and the How We Develop room featuring AK Vintage, MothLove, and Immortal.
