Roller Derby Movie Premiere + Win Rose City Roller Tickets | September 29 & October 2

I was not aware that Drew Barrymore had directed a roller derby movie until just now. Sounds pretty, pretty interesting. Plus, you can watch it with the Rose City Rollers and win season tickets to the matches.

Huge Portland Music Festival = Scion Garage Fest | October 17

I am posting this a bit out from the date because although it is free, you have to get tickets for it. I got mine this weekend and below is the message you receive back. Tickets are available starting Friday and there are a TON of bands at this festival. This is not one to miss. Go here to RSVP.

Last Night: Cowboy Mouth @ Coho Productions | September 28

Stage readings are interesting things. They are a quick and easy way to get some theater into your life  patti smith and sam shepard in performance in their play, cowboy mouth, nyc photo © 1971 by gerard malangabut they kind of leave you wanting more.

I recently attended the stage reading of Cowboy Mouth at the charming CoHo Theater in NW Portland (2257 NW Raleigh St). Written in 1971 by Sam Shepard with help from the "Godmother of Punk" herself Patti Smith, this play is an autobiographical tail about Cavale and Slim, a couple of lost souls who have sequestered themselves in a hotel room, a sort of Rock and Roll ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' if you will.

Cavale, played by Kate O'Grady, has kidnapped Slim, played by Sean McGrath, and is loosely holding him hostage in the Chelsea Hotel. Since this was just a reading the stage was set with only two stools for the actors and a narrator on the side.
