Immigrants for Greece began arriving to the Northwest in the late 1800s to work in fishing, lumber, railroad and other jobs. Settling in Portland they established their church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in southeast Portland. Moving to a new and larger church on 32nd and NE Glisan in 1952, the mortgage had to be paid off. The ladies decided to help by holding a bazaar with their handwork, food, pastries, music and dances from their homeland. This was the beginning of what is no known as the Annual Greek Festival which is one of the largest of its kind.
The Greek Festival remains a wonderful opportunity for us to share annually with over 15,000 guests from the Portland Metropolitan area our beautiful Greek Orthodox faith, our cherished cultural traditions, food, music, and dance.
Each year we award a portion of our festival proceeds to worthy philanthropic endeavors in the greater Portland community. Most recently, we have supported

October 2, 3, 4 2009
10am to 10pm Friday and Saturday
Noon to 8pm on Sunday
Adults: $13.00
Seniors 65-plus: $11.00
Children under 12: $6.00
Prices apply all hours, all days
Dinner tickets are available at the information booth or at the door. Talents are one dollar each.
Combination Plate on Friday and Saturday, 11am to 8pm
Dolmathes, pastitsio, keflethes, green beans yiahni, salad, bread, beverage, and dessert
Vegetarian Plate (available every day)
Spanakopita, green beans yiahni, salata, bread, beverage and dessert
Kota Riganati on Sunday, noon to 8pm
Half roasted chicken with with lemon, manestra, green beans yiahni, salata, bread, beverage, and dessert
Learn to make Greek dishes and desserts from Chrisoula and George Papas, authors of “The Art of Greek Cooking”, Saturday and Sunday only, 1:00. Admission: three talents.
Imported crafts and gifts from Greece: Rugs, Décor, Textiles, Ethnic Jewelry, Hand Knit Sweaters, Fisherman Hats and T-shirts.
Traditional, Byzantine, and more designs imported from Greece.
Gourment Imports: fine cheeses, olives, olive oil, pastas, herbs and spices, preserves, nuts, and more.
10:00pm-8:00pm Friday
Noon to 8:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
Activities: face painting, gold “medals”, ivy wreaths, coloring, games, puppet shows, and more! Admission: two talents.
