PDX Pipeline has T-shirts courtesy of Skookum Screenprinting. The logo is by Kris Kanaly. Skokum is a great local SE Portland company and they running a pretty sweet deal right now on shirts (60 for $300!) if you have a band or group needing tees.

As you can see, we have gray and black. If you think our logo will fit will with other colors, feel free to comment. We have small-XL and also “baby tees” of those sizes. They are pre-shrunk but will shrink a bit if you wash them in that scolding washing machine temp and dry them. Not too much though.

Chariots of Rubber is Back @ Interstate Firehouse | August 20-29

I was bummed that I missed Chariots of Fire at Theater Theater. I heard great things about it, the plot sounds pretty funny and the cast…well, that cast is built to party. Plus, there is this tagline: “There will be smoke, cars, carnage, singing, a live rock band, talking nipples, sign language, and blood.”

Last night I found out it is back on and was able to procure a couple pairs of tickets to giveaway ($40!) for Friday and Saturday's shows. To win, just comment on this post on why you want to attend. I will draw winners on Friday at noon.

Reminder: We give out free tickets every week to our Portland Facebook Group including to many of the top music and art venues in Portland. Join it if you like free stuff.

From Website:
When Crash and Tommy get in a pinch with the Areola Sisters, only a hooker with a heart of gold can settle the score.

Chariots of Rubber, a new heavy metal musical created by local luminaries, Jeffrey Wonderful, and “Private” Mike Albano, makes its debut Thursday, July 23rd through Saturday, July 25th, at the Arena Stage, at Theater! Theater! (3430 SE Belmont).

The story revolves around a demolition derby, flesh-eating trannies, and meditations on the power of bro-ship. Set to an original score of driving, soaring, metal in the early Sabbath tradition, expertly delivered by some of Portland's top rock players. Definitely a must-see.

This is an all-original heavy metal musical about love, loss and demolition derby in Coos Bay, OR. There will be smoke, cars, carnage, singing, a live rock band, talking nipples, sign language, and blood.

Video: Portland Soap Box Derby is THIS Weekend @ Mount Tabor Park

Portland Soapbox Derby
Mt Tabor Park
Filmed in 2007 by humanclock

This video might be a couple years old, but it gives a pretty good feel of Portland's Soap Box Derby. The derby is easily one of the top ten Portland events of the year with thousands in attendance to see a rather unique display of creativity, art, insanity, and partying.

Starting tonight, you can view the films entered into Portland's “48 hour Film Project”. Filmmaking teams from throughout the Portland area successfully completed a weekend of filmmaking. All of the films that were submitted on Sunday night will screen on the dates below. Come see what Portland area filmmakers can do!

Tickets are only $8 and you can purchase them at the door or online here.

Fashion enthusiasts: Launch Party & Networking Mixer hosted by Portland Fashion Synergy, Inc.

Posted by Julie Ma

It's no doubt that Portland's fashion scene is growing; from designers that have garnered international attention to Portland Fashion ShowOregonians' individual styles, we're starting to stand out amongst the pack of fashion forward cities in the U.S. We're a leader in developing sustainable clothing lines and we even have our own fashion week. Just in time for fall fashion, we are introduced to Portland Fashion Synergy, Inc. (PDXFS.)

They'll be talking about PDXFS programs, events and opportunities for those that are working, living and breathing anything fashion related in PDX. They'll also be sharing exclusive video from the Spring 2009 China Fashion week, where 12 PDX designers presented their work.

Now this is a fashion do.

Tonight: "Local Filmmakers Debut" at the Bagdad Theater

Tonight, the Bagdad will “debut” several shorts by local filmmakers. I am not sure which films are being screened as the info below is all I could find. I know “Steeped” is being played, but the website for it is down at the moment has ben hacked by some A-holes and is NSFW. The flyer below is for a screening in LA and not tonight, but all I can find since the site is down.  Yep, a bunch of fail going on right now with the info.

BUT, $3 at the Bagdad to support local filmmakers = win. Something cool to do on a Tuesday evening = win. Plus, you get to vote on the winners. See you there.

From McMenamins:

One Night Only! "Local Filmmakers Debut" screening at the Bagdad TheaterWe will beSteeped @ Bagdad Theater, Portland holding a two hour event of all chosen shorts on August 18th, 2009. There will be a $200 cash 1st prize, and a $75 McMenamin Gift Card 2nd prize give-away.

Voting will be by audience ballot and by a panel of pre-selected judges. The winners will be determined by a combination of 50% audience vote and 50% judges' vote. Each patron will receive a ballot to vote for her/his favorite short.  The ballots, along with the judges' scores, will be tallied and the winners determined. In case of a tie the judges' vote will determine the winner.
