Company of Thieves Will Steal Your Heart and Make it Dance
Earlier this year I got the chance to sit in on an acoustic recording session with Company of Thieves and let me tell you: Marc Walloch's guitar strings were burning out only perfect riffs, Mike Ortiz found more beats in a guitar case than there are roses in Portland, and the bluesy-soul vocals of Genevieve Schatz filled the room (I'm convinced she only uses a microphone for the sake of irony). These three kids from Chicago have the vitality of life bursting from their songs and you will see it in their live show.
Their video "Oscar Wilde" (above) visually follows Rushmore in a nutshell. Literary reference and independent movie homage mashed up with indie music? This band cries Portland.
