Farm Fresh: The Farm Cafe Grand Reopening

Farm Cafe, the restaurant that the Mercury called “the epitome of an affordable romantic dining
experience,” consistently placed in the Willamette Week's Top 100 restaurants, won Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence in 2008, among other rave reviews, is reopening on Wednesday, August 5th, after a long, overdue expansion. The new and improved Farm has doubled in size- providing more seating, a spacious outdoor patio, a new bar area, an expanded kitchen, less of a wait time (hooray!). Oh, and now they accept reservations for parties 6 or more.
The Farm Cafe began as a joint venture between husband-and-wife Phoenix transplants, Guy Weigold and Fearn Smith, back in May 2003. Since then, they have been providing Portland with Pacific Northwest cuisine emphasizing the best of Portland's farm-direct organic, seasonal, local, sustainable ingredients in the renovated, red 19th century Victoria house on Lower Burnside.
I recommend their Ravioli with Local Goat Cheese, Tarragon, and Heirloom Tomatoes as well as the Sazerac & Cheesecake – oh so delicious. Oh, and if you have 15 minutes to spare, don't forget about their Chocolate Souffle, yeah, the one that the Oregonian called “the Hope diamond of desserts: rich, hot, bubbly and surprisingly light — like soft brownies seconds from the oven… If you plan to share, be ready for a fight to the finish.”
