The Devil and Daniel Johnston Come To Portland | September 3 @ Wonder Ballroom
August 30, 2009 — PDXPIPELINEPosted by Mike Harper
Hi, how are you, Portland?
If you have never heard of Daniel Johnston, I wouldn't be surprised. He is one of those musicians with a cult following that, despite his overwhelming talent and voluminous album of music, has slipped under the general public's radar for decades now.
If you want the run down, and want to watch a good documentary filled with home-written, basement recorded, well-rounded folk-popish tunes, go pick up The Devil and Daniel Johnston from Movie Madness and take in the secret legend that is Daniel Johnston.
And if you don't have time to pick up the movie, just buy your tickets for the Wonder Ballroom and see him live. I promise you it will be worth it, even after "convenience charges."

Mos Def turned to acting in subsequent years as music became a secondary concern for him. He did release new music from time to time, including albums such as The New Danger (2004), but his output was erratic and seemingly governed by whim.
Got plans Saturday night? Break them.
