July 4: Where to Watch Fireworks on July Fourth in Portland | Many Suggestions

Portland Fireworks

July 4th is coming up quick. For those of you who have not experienced a this event in Portland, all bets are off and this place lights up 'Bombs over Baghdad'. I saw on the news that they will take your fireworks if they catch you, so be careful kids. I can't tell you about my secret location, but I can give some suggestions (and others have as well below).

Fireworks start at PGE park, Waterfront and Oaks between 9:50PM & 10PM.

  • Hawthorne Bridge
  • Mount Tabor
  • Rose Test Gardens
  • Pittock Mansion
  • Top of PSU parking garage on 6th and Harrison
  • Portland City Grille
  • PGE Park
  • Sellwood Park (website) you can see both Oaks Park and downtown from here
  • West Hills: Terwilliger near OHSU has many spots.
  • Blue Lake Park, (NE 223rd Ave and Marine Drive), fireworks begin at dusk. $10 per vehicle or $15 for large vans.

The picture above is from Bite of Oregon, but you get the idea. This is a good place to watch fireworks and it is just on the East side of Morrison Bridge.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3-D! @ Hollywood Theater | July 3

Posted by Dan Wheeler

When I was a kid we didn't have this all The Creature from the Black Lagoon @ Hollywood Theater | Portlandthis new-fangled, fancy-pants, RealD Coraline nonsense. 3-D meant one eye red, one eye blue and that's the way we LIKED it!

Horror classic the Creature from the Black Lagoon returns in it's original 3-D glory to the Hollywood Theater starting Friday. What better way to celebrate your country's independence than watching the first movie ever to employ 3-D technology… underwater! If you've missed it over the past fifty years, get in out of the heat this weekend and see Gill Man do what he does best: swim around and look creepy.
