From Leigh Feldman:
Portland SkylineThings I am currently jocking….

Last weekend… Wow. That was a ridiculous Thursday, Friday,Saturday, Sunday. Massive was, well, massive. If anyone has picture links send ‘em my way. You can see photos of all the backstage craziness here flickr.com/photos/typicalspoon

This weekend… Hot Mess. It's Portland's craziest, sweatiest and best dance party. First Friday's at Tube at 10pm. This month has two of the best dj's you can get. Check below and see why.

These mixes by Hot Mess guests DJ Nature and Dr. Adam. You can see them Friday night for free at Tube at 10pm. Dr. Adam's ‘Swallowing Dust and Razzi's' Mix – divshare.com/download/6995832-862 and DJ Nature's ‘Ante Up — Miami Edition' Mix -divshare.com/download/6940915-7b0.

Quasi & Little Claw @ Backspace | April 3

Posted By Julian Chadwick

Yes, I took this terrible picture at Quasi's last Doug Fir show. My photography skills are not the Quasi at Doug FirPOINT! The point is I was there standing for hours (seriously, it was an hour! between bands), sweating my ass off  in the middle of these masses. I hate waiting. I hate masses. I hate sweating. I don't like standing that much.

But I likes me some Quasi and I dealt with it b/c that is how good this band is. Also, I think I paid $12 for that ticket and this one is only $8! Ridiculous.

Not only is that cheap, but we are going to give a pair of tickets away to it (and many others) to our Facebook group friends around 3PM today. You better that join that group right now.

From Backspace:

Sam Coomes and Janet Weiss of super-group Quasi are considered local heroes by many. Sharing members with Stephen Malkmus, appearing on multiple Built To Spill albums and being able to call Elliott Smith a former band mate, puts you high on the list of indie rock royalty, doesn't it?Sam, Janet, and now official bassist Joanna Bolme are busy writing new tunes and will be recording a new, spanking good album at Jackpot! studio beginning in early April.

Faux Film Festival @ Hollywood Theater | April 3,4,5

Posted By Samantha Herman

Portlanders revel in faux – faux fur for the PETA members, faux faux Film Festival, Portland, Oregonturkey for the vegans, and faux pas committed by Sam Adams. The Faux Film Festival is three nights full of mocumentaries, spoofs, satirical shorts, and parodies.  This year, two of the three feature films are international submissions from Russia and Scotland. According to Mike Shklonik, Festival Director, "Of the five years I've been doing this, [this year's festival] will have more international films than any previous year." So in addition to your keen sense of humor, be sure to bring your reading glasses because there will be subtitles.

On Sunday night, when the chuckles have subsided and there's nothing left to poke fun at, awards will be handed out for the best films. Expecting to see a trophy that closely resembles the gold Oscar statuettes? Not at the Faux Film Festival. "I bought two boxes full of bowling and karate trophies from Wacky Willy's," says Shklonik, referring to the quirky surplus store that closed in 2006. Now that sounds more like it.
