Celebrate Portland in 30 Seconds Film Festival

By Arthur Smid

NW film centerHere's an opportunity to turn on the camera, press record and focus on what you love about Portland. I went into the Northwest Film Center today to see what's up with their new location. It's a nicely remodeled building at 934 SW Salmon, just a block uphill on SW 10th from the Public Library. While talking with the office manager, Kristy Conrad, I noticed an open call for entries to celebrate Portland in the 30 Second Film Festival.

Okay, so this part of the event is secret, and maybe why you haven't heard of it: “This is a surprise for Mayor-Elect Sam Adams!” The entries chosen for their ability to celebrate and inspire Portland will be shown at Sam Adam's Winter Gala and Swearing In, on January 31, 2009.

So the deadline looms: Read the rest of this entry »

Live Music and Video at Mt Tabor Legacy | January 2

Do you still have energy left from New Years? Do you like the experience of a mega-church? Well, you are in luck on Friday.

From the Penny Jam:
The Penny Jam at Mt. Tabor LegacyWe are putting on a LIVE VIDEO PERFORMANCE – we're filming and projecting simultaneously.  This should be pretty trippy and I think is going to surprise a lot of people.  It's the sort of thing you might see at a huge music festival or a mega-church or something.

Portland video podcast the Penny Jam (http://thepennyjam.com) hosts 3 local melodic rock savants The Ascetic Junkies (http://myspace.com/theasceticjunkies) Grey Anne (http://myspace.com/perse) and Derrek Wayne (http://www.myspace.com/derrekwaynepdx)
