I met up with the crew behind UrbanDrinks at the Nines on Friday, the day after the opening and had a rather tasty Old Fashion. I took some pictures of Nines door (blue ribbon) and around the Urban Farmer area. Mine are not nearly as nice as the ones by “The Impression That I Get”. That's called Nikon (here) vs iPhone (mine).

I took this picture of the happy hour menu. Mixed nuts and moonshine punch sounds good to me, and only $3.50. Uou can view get the  info for Urban Farmer and other Portland Happy Hours at UrbanDrinks. They also have a rather nice Portland Happy hour Google gadget.

Community table.. that is so gross. I know it is “hip” and “trendy” to do what Montage has been doing forever, but it is still (IMO) very low class to force people to sit at a community table if the bar is full.

Boo hoo. Go to any restaurant in New York and you’ll find a community table. As for being “forced” to sit there, why not wait for a seat to open at the bar? You know, like you’d have to if the bar was full and there was no community table.

Great food. Kitchy as all hell, but very good at making you feel welcome.

The menu has changed slightly, but it is still a great place to go. Barman’s martini is now $5, not $2.50. Still very worth it. Moonshine punch in good for $3 and GREAT atmosphere. Beware…happy hour food portions are VERY tiny. Really no deal there. But the drink prices make it worth it. Check it out!

Very strange happy hour “food.” Halibut fritters of mush, chicken pops (chicken wings) that have the same mushy texture, no longer like chicken meat, beef short ribs that are also deep fried and very dry, chili that tastes like it was freeze dried, and mac n cheese that wasn’t baked long enough so the base/cheese mixture was runny.
