August 9: The Return of Hank Plank and the 2x4s @ Laurelthirst

Sometimes I find myself mesmerized by local public television. The other night I was watching Portland Community Media (pcmtv.org) and I saw the tour video (3 years ago?) of Hank Plank and the 2X4s.

These guys are interesting musicians–look at these glowing reviews (and picture):

The Poughkeepsie Foul Dealer: “Easily Hank Plank's longest – and newest – album ever!”

The New York Times Out: “True to its roots, it sounds like nothing so much as poverty”

After watching the documentar, I found their site in order to see if they were playing any local shows. BOOM! After, 2 years out of Portland, they are playing at Laurelthirst!

Message from Mark of Hank Plank:

hi julian,

this will be our first show in portland in two years, half of the band lives on the east coast now, in brooklyn, NJ and washington dc. this will be our first show since our latest album was released, planks of grass, which has 25 songs about new york and portland. i hope that helps. we will be giving out copies of the album at our show.
